Azamara Club Cruises has just announced the exciting first voyage of the Azamara Quest to Cuba, which arrived at Cuba’s Sierra Maestra terminal on 31 March 2017.
The Azamara Quest is the first brand from RCL to sail to Cuba, connecting guests to locals and providing an opportunity for voyagers to immerse themselves in the rich culture.
Cuban officials and Azamara Executives celebrated the historical maiden voyage onboard the cruise as it sailed down the Bahia de la Habana alongside the famous El Malecon esplanade before turning through the Canal de Entrada to dock. Captain Angel Albertini and the Chief of Havana Cruise Terminal toasted the arrival of the Azamara Quest along with Azamara Club Cruises President and CEO, Larry Pimental, Royal Caribbean Cruises LTD. President and CEO Adam Goldstein, and Vice President of Business Development, Global Government and Community Relations, Jorge Delgado as well as a contingent of Cuban Dignitaries.
The cruise offers a variety of people to people day and night land programs, allowing guests the chance to connect with the people and culture of Cuba. The brand holds to a unique philosophy of longer stays at each destination, providing an overnight stay in Havana, opening an opportunity to experience the vibrant Cuban nightlife.
Highlights of the voyage include a Tropicana Cabaret Extravaganza: a spectacular open-air showcase of Caribbean rhythms and sultry dancers, and the Nelson Dominguez Art Gallery Tour where guests join President and Ceo, Larry Pimentel for a private gallery tour. The excitement continues with an evening stroll and El Cañonazo Ceremony with a guided walk through Old Havana and a brief bus ride to nearby Morro Castle where guests get to view a ceremonial firing of the cannon.
The Best of Havana is a full day, all-encompassing trip through Havana’s sprawling cemetery, notable squares, artsy neighbourhoods, literary connections and authentic cuisine. Venture back to 1950s Cuba in a vintage American automobile and experience even more history with Hemingway’s Havana tour, where guests enjoy a four-hour tour learning and experiencing all the things that the famous novelist loved most about Havana.
Azamara will be offering two additional sailings to Cuba in 2017:
- The Havana Discovery will have fares starting from $3,049 pp, beginning and ending in Miami, the cruise will go through the city of Havana overnight, continuing through Old Havana and on to the aquamaring waters of Cozumel in the Caribbean.
- The Havana Getaway will have fares starting from $2,159, offering an exciting tour through Havana with an overnight stay and a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage site.
